If your computer is slow, or you don’t want to download software, then online cloud based video editing platforms can be the best solution for you. All the hard work will be done in the cloud, meaning it won’t use your computer, but somebody else’s. However, remember that fast internet speed is needed when using an online video editor.
Best Online Video Editors
- Adobe Spark
- Clipchamp
- Wave.video
- YouTube Studio
- WeVideo
1. Adobe Spark
Adobe Spark is a free online video editor. You can sign up using your email and then start your editing process.
In case you need to discuss your projects with some of your team members, you can invite them to collaborate. This is a great option, as you won’t need to download the video every time you need to show it and then upload it again to make changes.
You can add text to your videos, record your voice to your video, and even change the background music for it. You can upload music directly from your computer or choose from their library. Another plus is that if you want to share your video across different social media platforms, you can do it directly from your computer.
The free version comes with a little watermark down on the right side, so if you want to replace it with your company logo or remove it, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.
Pricing
Basic plan – free
Full version – 9.99/month
99.99/year
2. Clipchamp
I know that most of us are looking for free, easy to use online video makers that don’t have a watermark. So I’m happy to tell you that such an option exists – Clipchamp.
According to Clipchamp, they have more then 8 million users around the world, and the number of new users is increasing every day. Let’s take a look at what kind of basic tools this video editor has, and how we can create a compelling video using this online video editor.
And again, you won’t need to install a video editing app to your computer, as you can do all your editing without leaving your browser.
To start your project, all you need to do is sign up from one of your accounts such as Facebook, Google, Apple, or Dropbox (or just use your email).
To create a compelling video here you’ll have following tools: cutting and splitting, color adjustment tools like changing the contrast of the video, and making the colors more warm or calm. You’ll also have several options for filters, adding text to your video, stock footage, music and sound effects.

Basic – free
Creator – $9 per month
Business – $19 per month
Business Platinum – $39 per month
3. Wave.video
If you’re looking for an easy to use online video editor that has the simplest interface and automatically leads you through whole editing process from start to end, then Wave.video should be your choice. You can either utilize their tutorial to learn how to edit, or jump into the editing straightaway.

Stickers, gifs, filters, fonts, and text animations are also available in this editor.
Another reason to use this app is that you get lots of tools to create professional-looking and compelling content. The only downside for me is that the paid plan of this editor is very pricey.

Pro – &33 per month

4. YouTube Studio
If you’re looking for very basic video editing options, you should also check out YouTube Studio. This is the most basic online video editor on my list. You can use it to cut and split your videos, add music, and adjust the sound levels of the music and voice of your video. Another function is adding end scenes to your videos. One useful tool not found elsewhere is a blur affect that can be automatically added to all the faces that appear in your video for privacy reasons. And you can add a card to your video and adjust the location you want it to appear.
Unfortunately, you can’t get other editing options like adding different clips to your videos, adding stickers and animations or even text, so for making more complex video edits this editor won’t work. But if you don’t need those specific editing features, you can simply jump right into your YouTube Account and select YouTube Studio. This online video editor is free of any charge and won’t leave any watermark in your videos. Hopefully in the future YouTube developers will expand the editing features and give us wider options so you can get started on your YouTube marketing directly from its Studio.
5. WeVideo
One of the best parts of this online cloud based video editor is that it gives users the ability to import files not only from your computer, but also from Google Drive, Dropbox, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, etc. If your computer is too slow or low on space and you don’t want to download files to your computer and then upload them to your online video editor, this can be a great solution.
Using WeVideo, you can share your projects with your team members as well give access to them to use your media content. You can create horizontal, square, or vertical videos, as well as change the format of an already edited video. You’ll also have all the basic color correction tools in your hands such as adjusting the brightness, contrast, saturation, and temperature. You can split and trim, use free sound effects and music from the We Video library, or use your own audio files.

All the options I mentioned are great for their own reasons, and all area relatively easy to get started with. Try them all, and see which you like best!
